Midwest Haunter’s Convention – Summer Slaughter
On the eve of June 3, 2009, Hundred Acres Manor haunted house opened our dungeon doors to the Midwest Haunters Convention pre-con bus tour. The tour is a three day jaunt for haunted houses owners, operators, designers, actors, and other folks that make your nightmares a reality. Attendees from the furthest stretches of the globe came to tour our famed attraction for a social dinner and a few scares.
Hundred Acres Manor was not open to the general public (although a lucky few sneaked in – and an even luckier few got back out again!) so that the haunters could take their time looking at the way that the haunt was laid out and the unique approach we take while creating our event. For this event, we staffed our haunt to the brim with nearly 160 ghouls and scares.
Comments heard when they exited were very positive. Haunters loved the detail in the haunt and, in particular, how long it took to go through. The maze was very popular, as were some of the other unusual things that you won’t find in any other haunt – but we can’t tell you what they are. Those are trade secrets and we’re going to terrify you with them in September. A few of the haunters told us that it was by far the best haunted house that they had seen.
Ethan Turon, Brandon Kelm, and Ted Sobek and the rest of the haunt staff worked tirelessly starting in January to make this event happen. “There were lots of cold days in January where 5 layers of clothes and gloves still didn’t cut it.
The Midwest Haunters Convention bus tour was a great opportunity to gain constructive criticisms from other industry professionals to build a better event for our victims, it was more than worth the time and effort”, said Ethan Turon; SPFX artist and creator of Hundred Acres Manor.
Many new twists and turns await you in the manor for the 2009 season and new unearthly characters are thirsty for your blood! Scare you all in September!
The event also got publicity from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Read the article here.
