Mission Statement

Hundred Acres Manor is 100% volunteer based from management, operations, facility design and haunted house planning to make-up and costuming artists and our core acting staff. Net proceeds (after cash expenditures for build-out, props, rent, insurance, utilities, and security) benefit two great Western Pennsylvanian charities; Homeless Children’s Education Fund (www.homelessfund.org) and Animal Friends (www.animal-friends.org).

Hundred Acres Manor Pittsburgh’s Site for Fright is truly a regional institution with one of our nations foremost traditional startle haunts. Looking to volunteer while having fun, knowing your efforts will benefit these organizations? Click to our volunteer page and come-on out and help. Every entertainment dollar spent at Hundred Acres Manor, Pittsburgh’s Site for Fright, goes to support our charities.

Homeless Children’s Education Fund

The transient nature of homelessness makes these figures difficult to calculate. However, it is estimated by the twice annual Allegheny County point-in-time studies that every day between and 500 and 600 children are receiving homeless services or housing in Allegheny County, their average age 7.8 years. A 2007 survey determined that over 1.3 million children are homeless in the United States.
The Homeless Children’s Education Fund (HCEF), a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, was established in 1999 to supplement federal funding for the educational needs of local homeless children. Over the years, HCEF’s role in the community has developed and expanded to meet these needs.

As centers throughout Allegheny County struggle to serve the various physical and familial needs of children who are homeless, they must also ensure the access of these children to a free and appropriate public education.
HCEF endeavors to serve as a community advocate, building coalitions of support among corporations, foundations, hospitals, institutions of higher education, religious organizations, and government agencies. In short, HCEF seeks to leverage community resources toward serving an urgent community need. For more information click on www.homelessfund.org.
